After a successful couple years with the Ninja 250R, we decided to step up to a larger displacement bike, while
keeping in line with our previous goals (sporty but not impractical, good fuel economy, and reliable).
We decided on a Kawasaki 650R, and found a 2008 model, with about 6000 miles on it, for a reasonable price. This Ninja will be modded to be a practical, affordable, and fun three-season work commuter. With fuel mileage of nearly 60mpg, and a top speed way above what is legal on the highway, modifications will be centered around improving practicality, safety, and fuel economy. 06/01/'11: The bike saw less than 1000 miles of use by us last year, so no modifications were made before 2011. Now that spring is well underway and summer is closing in, we have a few mods already performed and more staged. This bike is definately heavier than the 250R it replaced, but is still well-mannered, good on gas, and fun to ride. Check out the Mods page to see what progress we've made on the bike so far. |
