Kawasaki Ninja 650R (EX650) Rear Suspension Lowering Bracket Kit Installation
The bike should be clean and cool before beginning.  There should be no suspension anomolies prior to the installation of a suspension component.   Always diagnose problems before jumping to conclusions.

Thoroughly read the instructions and view all illustrations before beginning.

First things first- take inventory.  Make sure you have all the tools and components that came with the kit you purchased.

Last things last- if you need help with the installation, feel free to contact us via e-mail, at help@deyemeracing.com.  Fully explain what you're doing, and your question.  Include digital pictures if possible.
These instructions are also available online, with high-res images, at www.deyemeracing.com/Juice/KEX650SLB_install.htm.

Begin by jacking up the bike so it is supported by the front wheel and chassis.  No weight must be on the rear wheel.  A way to do this is by using a pair of jack stands.  From the left of the bike, tilt the bike toward you so you and the kickstand is supporting it.  Have an assistant slide a stand under the frame on the right side.  Move to the other side and repeat, tilting the bike to the right, and sliding a stand under the frame on the left.

CAUTION: It is crucial that the bike is stable, and cannot be tipped over easily!  It is also crucial that the rear wheel is not on the ground, and the rear suspension is not supporting any weight.

Using the hex wrench and 19mm or 3/4" wrench, remove the screw and lock nut from the rear (bottom) of the rear suspension damper.  These fasteners may be retained, should you wish to return the bike to its stock configuration at a later time.

Set the bottom of the damper slightly off to one side, so it is resting on the mounting bracket of the swingarm.

Place the right side Lowering Bracket in position.  Run one of the screws in the kit through the right side bracket, into the swingarm damper mounting bracket, through the included Long Spacer, and out the other side of the swingarm damper mounting bracket.  Set the left side Lowering Bracket in place opposite the right side bracket.

Attach one of the new locking nuts to the lower screw, hand-tight.

Run the other included screw through the upper hole in the right Lowering Bracket, one D-Spacer, the damper mounting hole, other D-Spacer, and through the other Lowering Bracket.  Attach the other nut, hand-tight.

Tighten the lower screw and nut so that the Brackets are snug against the swingarm bracket, but still able to move.  Rotate the D-Spacers so the flat is facing downward.

Remove the jack stands.  Jounce the suspension, and check that there is no gap between the rear of the Lowering Brackets and the rear portion of the swingarm bracket.  If there is a gap, the D-Spacers are not seated properly.  Have an assistant lift weight off the rear of the bike, while you rotate the D-Spacer so the flat is facing downard, and release.
With the Lowering Brackets now in position, tighten the upper and lower screws and nuts to the specification in the factory service manual.

  You're done!

To care for your Deyeme Racing Lowering Kit: if they are dirty, simply wipe them clean with a damp rag, and wipe them dry.  The brackets require no special care, as they are 6061-T6 tempered aluminum alloy, and will not rust or corrode, beyond forming a protective oxide coating. If your bike is intended for show, you may paint or polish the brackets as you see fit.  A coat of wax will help them maintain their luster.

To lower the front of the bike to match the effect of the DMR Lowering Brackets, follow the instructions detailed in the Factory Service Manual for lowering the front end by raising the forks in the triple clamps.  Our brackets will lower the rear approximately 24mm.
